Edit: the Advanced Editor tool doesn't work properly. When trying to save a file after editing, it hangs on "preparing to export." This issue has not been fixed for well over a year now. Otherwise this app is unobtrusive, effective, and offers most of the tools I need. Just a really good app. The Basic Editor, also included in the app, works quite well, but has fewer features.
This gallery app is smooth, clean and I do highly recommend it. I love that you can briefly edit the photos but I have had a problem for the last couple of months. After cropping my pics, the app freezes on the export. it used to work fine but has been off for awhile. I'm on a Pixel 8 Pro (android, a good quality phone that's up to date). other than that, I love it and still use it everyday.
I use this as my default media gallery app so I'm not forced to use Google photos for my pics and videos since I have a Motorola phone and they want you to use Google by default and I was tired of being asked if I want to back up my images and videos to the photos cloud (I didn't want them backed up) and it has been great for me! I think I prefer it even over the standard gallery app that comes with most android devices!
Exactly what I wanted — a photos app that allows me to have every single photo and downloaded image in a single chronological list. no automatic sorting into folders I never asked for. No AI face recognition. Just a simple straightforward list so I can find things more easily. I also find it very handy to be able to customize the grid resolution.
I have used the paid app since 2018 & it was formerly 5 stars. However, the company was acquired by ZipoApps in 2023 and since then no updates have been offered. The Advanced Editor no longer works, it stalls at 0% and you have to close the app. It was a great app for many years when the original team was running it, but I can no longer recommend using it.
