shows local weather well, but if you navigate to "Weather around the world" (video clips), it's very easy to start multiple videos with persistant audio that continue even when you've moved on to the next clip. so you may have two or three or four audios playing annoyingly at the same time, meaning you'll have to go back to find and fish out the audios that never stopped, so you can listen to the audio for the video that you are actually watching.
Looks great. Unfortunately it doesn't provide remotely accurate weather data. I have no idea why, but it gives different forecasts than other apps, and they tend to be less accurate, sometimes stunningly so. It will be pouring out and the forecast says clear, and the radar data shows nothing overhead. So ultimately, it proved worthless to me.
PROS: It does exactly what I need it to do, tell the weather and temperature. I also like the unique way they put background pictures that match the weather condition. CONS: All of a sudden, there are pop-up ads that weren't there before. I used to think it was ad free. Why wouldn't it be when Yahoo has other ways to make money. But it could be worse. CONCLUSION: This app is fine if you just want a quick look at the current weather and don't mind unnecessary ads.
update: Widget hasn't worked in a few months. uninstalled\reinstalled several times, does the same thing. Time to let it go. The radar map doesn't allow you to zoom in to see what's currently going on right above you. If you zoom too far in, the radar disappears. The weather is only good for the current day. If this were a Saturday you couldn't goto Monday and get detailed weather. I do however like the design and layout.
Not as reliable in terms of accuracy as it used to be. The local weather alerts were helpful to us, now, they appear to have gone away. As of 9/3/2022, the app no longer provides 'current location ' weather. Now it defaults to my home location, which I never set as any location. 12/17/22: Since the 9/22 review, the location feature is functioning again, however, it's not automatic anymore. I have to do a manual refresh each time I open my phone.
