Real Experience Using Facebook

Application Scenarios

The Facebook app serves a myriad of purposes, catering to diverse user needs across the globe. Whether you are looking to reconnect with old friends, share life updates, or join groups with shared interests, Facebook provides a platform for almost any social interaction. Users can easily post photos, videos, and status updates to engage with their friends and family. The app is also widely used for event planning, allowing users to create, share, and RSVP to events seamlessly. Additionally, Facebook's marketplace feature enables users to buy and sell items locally, enhancing community engagement. Businesses leverage the platform for advertising and customer interaction, making Facebook a versatile tool for both personal and professional networking.

User Experience

The user experience on the Facebook app is largely intuitive, with a user-friendly interface that facilitates easy navigation. Upon opening the app, users are greeted with a news feed that showcases updates from friends, family, and pages they follow. The layout is visually appealing, with a blend of text, images, and videos that keep users engaged. Notifications are timely and relevant, ensuring that users do not miss important updates or messages. However, some users have expressed concerns over the app's algorithm, which can sometimes prioritize content that may not be of interest. Additionally, while the app offers various privacy settings, some users find the complexities of these settings daunting. Overall, the app's functionality is robust, allowing for real-time interactions and engagement.

Pricing

Facebook is free to download and use, which is one of its most appealing features. The app generates revenue primarily through advertising, allowing users to access its services without a subscription fee. While the basic functionalities are free, businesses can opt for paid advertising options to enhance their visibility on the platform. Users can also purchase items through the marketplace, but this does not incur any fees from Facebook itself. This freemium model has made Facebook accessible to a broad audience, encouraging widespread adoption and consistent engagement.

Updates & Support

Facebook is regularly updated to introduce new features, enhance security, and improve user experience. The app frequently rolls out updates to address bugs and performance issues, demonstrating the company's commitment to maintaining a reliable platform. Users can access a comprehensive help center within the app, which offers troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and community forums. For more urgent inquiries, Facebook provides options for reporting issues directly through the app. However, some users have reported delays in receiving responses from customer support, indicating room for improvement in this area. Overall, Facebook's consistent updates and support resources help maintain user satisfaction and engagement.

verified Security & Privacy Review

The Facebook app has made strides in enhancing its security and privacy practices, yet concerns remain for users regarding data handling. With a vast amount of personal information collected, Facebook requires numerous permissions, including access to contacts, camera, and location services. Users should be vigilant about the permissions they grant, as these can lead to extensive data collection. Facebook implements encryption for data in transit and offers two-factor authentication (2FA) options to bolster account security. However, the platform's history of data breaches and unauthorized sharing of user information raises red flags. Privacy settings are available, allowing users to manage who can see their posts and personal information, but navigating these options can be complex. Moreover, Facebook's data sharing with third-party apps has faced scrutiny, prompting calls for greater transparency. While the company has made efforts to improve user control over their data, users must remain proactive in reviewing and adjusting their privacy settings. Overall, while Facebook provides tools to enhance security, the responsibility ultimately lies with users to safeguard their personal data.

Video watching is broken as hell, and it's been like this for years. Multiple videos play at the same time, ads are way way louder than the rest of the video, and ads get stuck and keep you from watching the video (after you watch the ad, of course). It claims that you have a new message at the top corner all of the time, even if you already read the message. The algorithm is also intentionally showing you content that it knows you don't want to see.

For an app that's supposed to keep you in the loop with friends and family, it does a really bad job at it. 90% of my feed is ad and suggested content. If I scroll through 20 posts, only a handful are from my friends. I don't even see half the content they post. Not to mention the notifications are useless. Why am I getting a notification about a post made 3-4 DAYS ago?? I have a few dozen friends that I'd like to keep up to date with, but this app makes that almost impossible. Waste of time.

It was fine while I had access. Someone hacked in and changed my email address. I reported it, and I never got a response. Update: the account was "recovered". All my friends were deleted and all that was left was my one profile picture. Now everytime I open the app, I get an error message and the app doesn't work. UNINSTALLED. It's not like they provide any useful services.

The amount of ads is insane (it didn't used to be), you don't see your friends much and their algorithm ensures you only see a few friends in your feed even if you have hundreds. The rest is ads. There are also a lot of disgusting ads showing nudity, which they claim goes against their standards, but I've reported them dozens of times and have yet for them to actually remove one. If it wasn't for the connections I have through the app, I wouldn't use it. I'll definitely ensure my kids never do.

At the bare minimum, it's a site that lets you have people on your friends list. Beyond that, it's largely unusable. 8 out of every 10 posts is an ad or a group you don't follow and didn't ask to see. The app's UI is wonky and sometimes doesn't let you see notifications. The site is flooded with AI posts by bot accounts that exist only to make money for the account farm makers. The site (and all meta apps) seemingly killed of TikTok in the US to turn their platforms into it. Hard pass.
