terrible design. Decent concept, but the game play is clunky and tedious. It is pay to play if you want any chance at succeeding or even growing your town. Be prepared to spend $1000 a month to compete. the "battles" are riddiculous, especially in cross-state competitions. You can only teleport to certain areas and this forces you to make long, slow marches that the enemy just moves away from. You can only teleport to a new zone by buying special teleports (in cross-state). Terrible game.
Definitely pay to win. I've spent hundreds on a new server and I'm far behind the whales it would not be enjoyable at all if I hadn't spent money. absolutely nothing like the original at all the only thing thats the same is the name. it's not a horrible game if you have the ability to spend 20-30 dollars a week you can maintain towards the lower upper class of the game. if you get into a good alliance the game is decent.edit dropped to 2 stars due to the ridiculous response to the initial review
I was thinking it was going to be similar to age of empires 2 on PC but wasnt even close. I would like to see a mobile version of the classic vs going in a new direction. There was a reason why the original was a classic, don't try to reinvent the wheel! They will reply saying it has aspects of the original PC game but that's a lie! Dont waste your time downloading!
Filled with microtransactions just like every other modern game in order to squeeze you for every cent. Hadn't even made it through the tutorial yet and was already getting 99¢ ads. Do yourself a favor and save the space on your phone. The AI is subpar and the gameplay is nothing like an actual AOE game. I'm sure the companies AI will respond to this with the usual, "it's not p2w, just try harder". Then remove build timers and remove the p2w mechanics! A disgrace of the AOE name! Sad money grab.
only looks like the computar game during tutorial, then it converts to all other generic strategy games. extremely P2W, $100 for 1 max hero, you need 15, and they nerf updated the best hero, making me waste $100. it gets very boring and disappointing. customer services lies saying this is not P2W game but look up all the top characters, only obtainable by paying, the free characters are weak. seriously look up hero tier list before wasting any time or money on this game.
